Is this crazy or is it just me??

The way I see it is most are, or think they are, dealers. 10 years ago you could find everyday folks selling un-needed items for what an average fell'a would pay. Now, not so much. Guy gets something, finds the most expensive listing on ebay, and would sooner sell it to a scrap yard than someone who needs it berfore taking a dime less.

I was looking at a ford 501 mower (older pitman style) and he wanted more for it than a newer belt drive. Only advantage was location. Made offer for what it was really worth and you'd thought I was sleeping with his wife. 2 weeks later he cut it up and sold it as scrap. Got about a fifth of what I offered for it.

I think the person who buys it at that price needs a mental evaluation. I know I wouldnt pay much over $25 if that. But everbodys different!!! No sir; You are not crazy!

I agree these arent parts you see everyday, but they are out there and not rare. I paid $800.00 for a complete Lo Boy not long ago. I have several complete tractors I'd practically give away as not to see them scrapped. It just pi55es me off royaly seeing stuff like this.....Tom

I would not give much more than that for a running Cub low boy. LOL Some guys think that all of this stuff is "rare and valuable. Much of it is just junk with dreams. The real high days in the old tractor market are gone. Unless it really is rare or one of a very few made the value is really down.

Ive seen both sides of it . Yeh can understand it too ! I dont want to pay some outrageous price someone has been told its worth but dont want to get lo balled selling it either, When i think back to a bobcat i had. i get angry and to think there is hen penning and all of these psychologial games people play and i dont blame someone for cutting something up rather than give it away on principal. Been on both ends of the spectrum. No body wants to part with a buck. If it is not to your liking then go on down the road or send them along. Sometimes you just cant meet and other times it can work out great. Just be honest , this is all i can afford to spend. It was worth less when i started saving up to buy it.Hate to see good stuff like new shape going to china but dont worry they will do like japan and send it back to us in a few years in the form of bombs and bullets,History repeating itself

10 years ago it was fun to sell stuff on ebay. I'd start all my auctions @ 99 cents and let the buyer tell me what it was worth. That don't work no more.

Friend bought a small air conditioner for 110.00.He used it for 2 summers and decided he didnt need it.Puts an ad in the paper trying to sell it for 125.00.I told him that you can buy new one for 100.00 at times.A few people call. When they find the size they tell him the same thing.I offered him 75.00 no go.He finally gives the air conditioner and a microwave oven to a second hand store. When the real hot weather moves in I cant work in my shop now.I have a 5k air conditioner in the living room now.It gives me a place to go when the heat and humidity get bad. Many people have a mean streak.Same friend got some books free. After he read them I offered him 5 bucks each.I sell books mail order,I would put the books on the list for 7 to 8 bucks each.He wanted 10 bucks.A year later he said he would take 5.I told him I had stopped buying books because computers were ruining book sales. Two dealers I buy from have closed their stores.I stopped at a dealer looking for a book a customer wanted. He told me he is selling out.

Must be the same guy that is selling old Onan manuals. Priced way over what they should be. The guy had an operators manual priced at 48.95 not long ago. I can get them for 10 bucks at other places.

I see this all of the time, with Wisconsin
Engine parts, on E-Bay. You readers should be aware that NAPA has Fuel pumps, Carb kits, gasket set, single head gaskets, Valves,Rings,
for a lot of different models. Also, some V4"s
are just two, 2 cylinder upper decks on a
different base, so, with some research, V4 head
gaskets are just 2 cyl head gaskets packed in
pairs.
Maybe E-Bay sellers, who list parts as "Rare",
don"t know that Wisconsin Motors is still in
business, still making engines and parts, and
if you find a distributor at the official web
site: www.wisconsinmotors.com,(where you can
download a parts book for your model,FREE) you
can order parts.(though somewhat pricey)

I've said it here before, couple years ago the fuel pump went out on my ancient Wisconsin swather engine. Went, fearfully, to my Auto Value store (they have older, more knowledgable counter help than the local similar Napa store 'here') and pulled the old pump out of my 5 gallon pump.

Fella says, "Oh I'm so sorry!"

My heart sinks lower, that's never a good greeting when you are looking for parts.

He continues, "I just sold the in stock one this morning, I won't have one in until 9:00 tomorrow morning."

Holy moley. Wasn't expecting that good a deal.

I must be on the wrong side of e-bay. When I advertised my snowmobile clutch tools which cost around $1500.00, I sold them for $75.00. My Shock rebuilding tools, seals and oil that cost around $300.00 sold for $36.50 and I paid shipping on both. Whenever I bid on something interesting I am always outbid in the last minute.

Did you not read the name of the seller company.....:greenbackin tractor " nuff said.
E-bay is full of people trying to find that one sucker.. I have seen cublow boys you could have bought for that price.

my old tractor had 4 emblems..2x mccormick 16 inches long or so and 2x with the model about 6 inches long... I needed one of the model plates and got the whole set off ebay for 30 bucks or so. Took the one I needed and put the incomplete set back on ebay 3 days after I bought them, 4 days later the bid was at 98 bucks, the incomplete set sold for 150 bucks.....
A fool and his money ...............

The same guy has a pair of frame weights for an F-12. He lists them every 3 months or so for 485.00 plus shipping. I have missed 2 pairs in the last 6 month from others 125.00 and 175.00
Ya think he should come down some? oldiron29
