Public sales this fall

Just got my Antique Power. Lots of big and good collections on the block this fall. What is happening? Wonder if the prices will hold up with all the sales.

Hwess > I wonder if the one called Field of dreams Pierce NE Sep 6th thru 9th is legit:
Seems like a big field find. I to you wonde r if that stuff will bring anything more than good scrap prices..

I checked out this auction listed on page 12 of this months Green Magazine. What a collection in Mabel, MN. Tractors, cars, trucks and pedal tractors. Would love to go and see what this stuff brings.

Collectors are getting older and selling out, some
need the money.A lot of tractors prices are off 30%-40%,hardly any market for common or rough stuff.

For the most part I expect prices to be softer, the drought makes things worse, others have highlighted issues. Not a lot of young people around auctions.
Rare tractors will probabily continue to sell high.
Econony has probabily hurt the hobby too. Five years ago it was common to hear retirees sat these are the golden years. Don't hear that very often anymore.

As a younger collector, almost 30 started when I was 16, I just don't have the expendable income to buy, if I could I would have barns full. I can't even afford to fix the ones I do have right now.

I know the feel Matt. We figured the best way to determine cost of repair/restoration is make your best estimate and then double it. Odd parts (flywheels, etc) are hard to find and very expensive.
Hang in there, we have two tractors in process.

Three things happening:

1. Older collectors dying off.
2. People needing money.
3. Auction fever.

I really think these auction-based reality shows have a lot to do with all these big glitzy auctions. Auctioneer see, auctioneer do.
