too much and not enough

Rain chances were 50% Sat, 60% Sun, 50% Mon, 40% Tues & 40% Wed.

That's too high to cut hay with "1011" our JD 70 (that makes this tractor related) and too low to risk several hundred $$ of fertilizer for the coastal hay field.

We did get rain Sat, about an hour after we got through putting the freshly baled 5x5 rounds of bahia in the hay barn. Got more rain Monday.

Not complaining - July is usually hot and dry so glad to get the rain.

I was lucky enough to get under storms two evenings in a row.1/2" the first evening and 1.2" last evening. I had applied fertilizer on my Coastal at end of last week.

Praise the Lord.

In NE Iowa, I cut hay and raked it and let it lay hoping it would get rained on. Didn't work, suppose I will have to bale it today. No hurry, its not going to grow back anytime soon.

We have not had rain in almost a week again, we had a whole 0.6" of rain last Thursday, before that nothing for weeks.

How dry are you? I could still get a good crop if I got rain now, have seen some brown corn north of here though. Its done.

Hay what the heck is that stuff. Here in Missouri there are people with tractors and balers burned to the ground due to trying to do hay when it has gotten to the point it is straw and dry to boot. We did get around an inch of rain Sunday night but that is way to little way to late but sure better then nothing

One definition of retirement is twice as much husband and half as much money.

In our case, 1/3 as much husband and 1/2 as much money.
