Milestone herbicide

Everybody raves about it for Tansy Ragwort, our local noxious and poisonous weed- I've been spraying it with Weedmaster for years, but seems to keep coming back. Folks say Milestone flat kills it. When I also was told it is about the only thing that will actually kill horsetail, I got a quart of it- $114! 'Bout had a stroke, but needed something that would actually WORK!

Went to fill my little spot sprayer, just assumed it would be an ounce or 2 per gallon, but read the little pamphlet from front to back, and although it talked about spot spraying, didn't say how much to put in.

So I called the store, and he said .15 ounce per gallon. "Are you serious?" He laughed and said everyone has that response. Turns out that .15 ounce is 4.5 cc's- he recommended using a syringe.

At that rate, I'll be leaving the jug to my son in my Will, with instructions to pass it on to grandson Jack when his time comes. Guy at the store complained that as soon as every farmer in the county has a jug of it, he figures they'll never sell another drop.

I've used it for a few years and it's great. Excellent for Canada Thistle. When you figure out how little is needed, the cost doesn't soud so bad because it goes so long.

How long does it remain active? I've heard some of these chemicals last up to 7 years....even after they have gone thru the horse or cow. Makes me real leary of using manure from people that feed "certified weed free" hay to their animals.

Milestone is great, just bought some today. It does have residual in the manure like Tordon. It has had bad effects on gardens that used the manure. PK
