insulating paint

A week or so ago, there was a question about insulating a shop.

Someone replied about a "paint" that would insulate and drop the temp.

I didn"t make a note of who made the post, but would like to know more about the "paint" and where to get it.

ceramic coating is used on high performance exhausts to keep the temperature stable. So it must work.

I did post the URL about the paint. The company name is Hy-Tech Thermal solutions. I have used the roof coat & the paint with really good results. They do sell the Thermacels that you can add to your paint but I found it a little difficult to mix evenly in a 5 gallon pail. Might be easier to just buy the base and add color. End result of my use has been a large reduction in my electric bills for a/c(live in SE TX) & noise transmission from outside. The one minor drawback is a slight texture on the surface similar to a fine grit sandpaper .
Heres the link

This may be of interest, might not be applicable, but while on the subject, there is a type of paint referred to as Intumescent Paint, more or less for applying to substrates that need a fire resistance hourly rating, not sure if it crosses over into other applications, cost is also a factor when "value engineering" material selection or a design using a particular material. I remember looking into it for as an equal to spray applied fire proofing on structural steel for some odd condition in a building, don't recall the circumstances, but I never heard of the material prior to, surprising as to how many modern, high performance materials are out there today.

Thanks, we'll be checking these out.

With no insulation, the shop gets very hot in the summer.

We've talked about using the foam boards in the rafters, but the paint would be way easier.
