Need Trac Seat Guidance

Ok folks:

I'm suffering with back issues. My tractor is an IH 444 utility. The seat , as most of you will know , is unsprung and sits directly on the chassis. I need an after-market seat that will relieve the jarring on my spine. I had a look at the tractorseats.com website and see nothing there that fits my tractor except exact replacement.
Any thoughts or suggestions ? Obliged

Most any good farm and home places have a good number of universal type seats that would fit your bill. Of nnalert has them and I think this site also has them. Yep understand the back problems

You are going to find you are very limited .. On that model tractor the seat was mounted high on the rear tns cover and just not a lot of room for these fancy air ride or spring seats. right off I can,t think af anything except maybe a better cushion but you might work something out if you are fairly tall and have long legs.

Get yourself an old air ride seat out of a semi, or dumptruck, it you can shoehorn it into the spot you have. also, Northern industrial (and others) have adjustable weight seats, that can run $400, and down. On one lawnmower I used to own, I put a $300 seat on it, and I was not disappointed.

Sorry, it is not going to happen. The best you can do is a rubber bumper under a flat seat. I tried for years, ended up with Fords and Deeres for that reason!!

A good friend has a IH 444. I kid him all the time that they built the whole tractor and then realized that they had left the seat off. So they stuck it on top of the rearend. On them you set on top of the tractor not down on it. You will not be able to put any type of suspension seat on it because it would then be too high to reach the clutch and brake.

I even tried adapting a Ford style seat that had the suspension on the back of it but the hydraulic lines interfered with it working.

Run the tires as low as possible on air pressure and get yourself a thick piece of padding. There is no simple solution to the ride/seat problem on that model tractor.

Thanks ,men.

I kept my post short but each of you precisely nailed the issue. I really love that old tractor and I resist new and fancy. But something's got to give and I suspect it won't be my back ,except to give way. :>)
Do appreciate the guidance.
