Got a start on beans today, then the big V-belt broke. I did get one truckload before it broke. Then I planted some wheat.

Forty years ago I planted beans with a John Deere 290, no spray, just cultivate and combine with a A-6 case, owned one gravity box. Fill it in the afternoon and run it to town in the morning and then start over again. About nothing invested in machinery and seed, fert. fuel and rent was cheap. I made good money back then!! That opportunity isn't there anymore to start on a string.

Hopefully I will be bringing my "new" JD 30 home this weekend. Checked the mileage. It will be a 54 mile pull. I am taking some better tires to put on it before I start home with it. Also building an off-set hitch to get it behind the truck. It"s gona need a tad of work but I can"t wait to use it.

wijim, do you or any of the other posters here know if a 9.50 x 16 tire will fit this combine? It has 7.50 x 16 so I'm afraid the 9.50 may rub since it's already a tight fit.

Mine has a 750-16 on the grain tank side, that is the correct size for it. The header side has an 11-15 that I put on when the old one went flat.Heres some pics, that 950 might fit on tank side, but you dont want to get to tall it may affect the reel speed.

My biggest field is 6ac and I have about 20ac of beans this year, and I pay very little rent. Also the equipment is either inherited or paid for.

Normally I have my 70D on the combine, but its in the shop with clutch problems. I should have it running tonight yet.
