I Have a Ford Tractor,converted to a Fork-Lift.
It has a 192 Diesel 4clyinder that is worn-out.
Unable to find engine o/h parts.Would a gas engine fit this ? . Please Help

I believe so, but your question would be better answered by a ford expert. Since I ain't one, I suggest posting the question, on the ford forum, if you haven't already.

All those engine came with a hyd pump on the right hand side of them. The early ones used a vane pump and the later ones a piston type pump

Well you know me I mess with to many tractors and stuff to some time not be right but I try to remember and since I have been around enough ford seems any of them after the NAA had hyd pumps on them

I sure don"t claim to be an expert, but I bet a 172 diesel would be the easiest replacement and the least expensive to rebuild. 172 rebuild kits are easy to find. Not so with the 144 diesel. I have looked extensively for a rebuild kit and have not found any on the internet.

I have heard of 192 engines, but have never seen one. I thought they were only used in industrial applications, but maybe your forklift conversion is based on an industrial model. Maybe the builders thought a forklift needed more power than a 172 could deliver. But unless you REALLY work it hard, I bet a 172 would serve you very well.

I suppose converting to a gas engine would also work OK, but there are a number of things on a diesel model that are different than on a gas model, like linkages and the entire fuel system. If I was going to convert a diesel to a gas engine (I wouldn"t !!), I think I would try to hunt up a complete gas tractor with a bad SOS transmission, so I would be able to get everything I needed for the conversion. Good luck!
