Appears to be of Spanish origin:

I'd heard the name but have never seen one. Was this sale down east? Seems there were more small European tractors imported and sold in Ontario and east than out here.

If memory serves me correctly, I believe that these tractors were sold through McKee Bros, in Elmira Ontario. McKee also manufactured several imlpements as well eg. snowblowers and their unique forage harvesters as example.

Never saw one when I was in Europe but I didn't spend much time in Spain, could of gotten stationed TJ but turned it down for a short tour in Turkey that got switched to Greece. Being in Greece most of the fake Fergusons were IMT brand from what was Yugoslavia. Internet data seem to indicate it is a Spanish Massey Ferguson which explain how it came to be in a sea of red equipment. The same site indicates after Nissan took over the business Ebro tractors were Spanish Kubotas.I suppose if I were a MF dealer in the early 70's I might take on Elbros or IMTs to offer a lower priced unit to my customers and maybe preserve my margin on the MF tractors. It was different being in Greece as they traded a bit more with the eastern block then Germany and it appears some of the Western Auto Manufacturers like Renault, Citroen and Fiat would sell complete plants to less industrial countries and they'd make knock-off Fiats, Renaults and Citroens. I was over there when SEAT, a Spanish automaker changed hands. In six weeks time new Seats went from being Fiat Copies to being VW copies and Fiat went from being the largest automaker in Europe to being second to Volkswagen.

Why don't you post these on the massey forum... make everyone cry? That combine... almost worth taking the length of New York Thruway. 2600 for a blown 50, yet 425 for a handy little combine?... auctions are hard to figure.....

Massey Ferguson had some tie up with the Spanish govt back in the 60s. Believe it or not Ebro used to build Fordson Major Diesel tractors under licence from Ford, Following the MF deal they still built Fordson Majors BUT with Massey Ferguson hoods and called them Massey Ferguson 155s. Somewhere down the line they started to fit Perkins engines, then MF dropped out and they went back to painting the tractors blue with more modern hoods, but the transmissions were still Fordson majors, though the front axles were very much MF. Look at the chrome hood fasteners....any of you familiar with Majors will immediately recognise them and the chassis rails and the.......and the......
