Rain rain rain, 10 days of the last 14, enough already. Still have alot of outside work to do , that is better done dry if you know what I mean. Don't stop this guy from doing his job though. Snapped this pic this morning on the way back to the house, going to have to start the wood stove again to take the dampness away. Bruce

It's getting that way down across the border from you in central NY. We haven't really had too much water yet- but it is almost constant. Ground was so dry it continues to take it up. That might change after this spell. Guys trying to cut beans are going nuts! I had only corn to do, and finished yesterday! It was all dryer than I've ever harvested before- almost dry in the field!

Also from Minnesota, been misty the past week, but hasn't equaled a 1/4 inch all together.

Haven't had much of any rain since May, terribly dry here.

Nope, have not had enough rain!

send it all this way, will take all you have extra !probably take five or six inches just to fill the cracks in the ground.

It is impossible to do any fall plowing in my area of MN right now. Plow won't even stay in the ground it is so dry and hard. No, not enough rain yet!

I've sure had enough for a while. I still have to wean calves and I'm NOT looking forward to sorting them in a mud hole (again).
I still need to get my corn stalks chopped and baled yet too and there's water standing in the corn fields.

I don't know the total rain here this fall but it not near enough. Still short subsoil moisture.

Answer to question: NO!!! Need about 10 inches really fast to fill the pool so that all the catfish I stocked last spring survive. Course the pasture wants it's share too, but a couple of inches of drizzle will work for that.

Bruce,
As I said in a past post, we get your weather a day later. WILL you stop doing that!! We got Corn @ 18-22% moisture, Beans Mildewing, and 3rd. and 4th cut Alfalfa still waighting to be harvested.
All the ground that can, be fall plowed is! NO big downpours, but, Fog, mist T storms, temps in low 50s. As you said enough is enough! Heck we can't even put paint on the barns or houses to maintain them. The weather watchers are saying posible 70s by Fri. Indian Summer?

Loren, if it was in my power to stop it raining, I would sure try, Or maybe send some southwest for a while. Beans around here are all about done , some corn off for high moisture silos. My corn can wait till November, like to see it down around 17-20%.Bruce

we got our 4th cutting done, chopped thursday, 1 1/2" rain friday, 2 loads saturday to try and cover the bunk, chopped the rest monday, and it has rained all day today. glad i have 2 dryers of shell corn dried and a load of hmec to feed. i won't have to go back to the field until the end of the week for more hmec. good news is, when it stops raining, it only takes a couple days for the ground to firm up.
there is a lot of beans still out around here. most guys with cows chopped all their corn to rebuild supply after last fall's flood.

You and lyle need to get together and eat a pot of chili and blow that rain down this way. It's still dry here, had 2 inches a week and a half back, saw the neighbor deep ripping corn stalks 4 days later. I was in the field 6 days later field cultivating, just came in from drilling the last of my wheat and that ground is dry again.

Got another shot yesterday, now it can quit for a while. Got my wheat planted last week, but I'd like to disc some bean ground--too darn wet for now.

Bruce, No, NO, NO!!!! Here in Central Where I am, We are still closer to 20 inches behind all toll! Yes, we have had showers around, had a very easy Aug. / Sept. but nothing constant and prolonged to recharge ground water or fill the farm ponds, and conservation reservoirs, or even the major lakes here in the area! Long waaaayyy from being caught up here in this region. Glad Y'all are getting protracted amounts for extended times!
Later,
John A.

Not in this part of NE Ohio we ain"t. I live between Canfield and Salem and we have not had prolonged rain since last spring. My pond is completely dry and Berlin lake is as low as I have ever seen it. I watch the radar and pray for rain everytime it is predicted to come and it always goes 5-20 miles to the north or south of us. Even the remnants from the hurricane totally missed us. I have what is left of the fish and tadpoles in trashcans waiting for the pond to get replenished. That was fun scooping them out of the swamp muck.
