I removed some of the tranny gears of the tractor to make room for a drive shaft to go right to the flywheel. Most of the clutch and the shafts were missing from the tractor so Im getting the machine shop to build me what I need to run the sawmill.

ell how do ya think I got it in the shop? Jeeezzzz..lol

I just hope the old motor will run long enough to be worth all the effort. Some of those things ran for years then the next one liked to break the bank, just couldn,t keep them toghether. Big thing is the heads. Almsot all of them have cracked heads.

Very familiar. We had one with steering clutch issues and final drive bearings out. From sitting in a creek for 3 months. I have seen that image and you are a brave man. It will be a fine mill engine. And easy to start. Jim

A friend of mine has a TD18A as well as a complete TD18A power unit and a couple of extra heads.

So far he has not scrapped any of the TD18 stuff but has scrapped all of his TD6 and TD9 stuff.

Lyle.. Going to be intresting and I bet you have already figured it out. With the Massey you were runing input 540 +/- with this thing something around 1500 is going to be about right. Can you change pulleys or how will you re gear. I suspect the luging ability of this old beast will just amaze you. May not get it quite as fast on the governors but will sure hang in there once the saw loads. Keep us informed of the project.

had a little set back yesterday, I was gonna fire the old beast u and then I saw a bunch of water pizzin out of the block. I now have to remove some stuff from the machine so I can do some grinding and welding. Im going to get some hel from my nieghbor and friend who had a welding and machine shop for years. He said he is no stranger to welding up motor blocks and I have total faith in him.
