Neat old movie about making redwood lumber

I was following a link from down in the Crawler section. I found this old 1940s movie that is on youtube. It shows them cutting and sawing giant redwood trees.

the industry of it all is neat to watch, but the wanton consumption is just amazingly wasteful. And the environmental impact is something we are stuck with today. I'm no tree hugger, but watching the film would sure make the average person become one. Those are old times we can do without.

That attitude is precisely what has led to the fall of the United States economy. One can not be a competitor on the world market when preserving the environment is the primary goal. Men who make their living off the land such as loggers do not seek solely to consume and exploit, doing so will leave them unemployed. When responsible stewardship is employed there is little harm in creating economic gains from the resources that mother nature has provided.
