What Car Tire Brand Do You Use?

I have a road trip to pick up some tractor parts along with a vacation (about 2,000 miles round trip) so taking the car this time. It is a 2009 Impala with the factory tires. I looked at them last night and decided to replace them before the trip. What brand tires do you run? I have had several sets of Michelin in the past and liked them. Any other favorites?

You are useing the best already.
I sold Michelin and several others from 1965 to 1978 and saw 1 Michelin tire that was defective while every other manufacture's tires were failing due to a number of defects. Everything I own that can be fitted with Michelin has them. The wifes mini-van has odd size tires not offered by Michelin in a passenger tire so I put Michelin LTX light truck tires on it.

I've been well satisfied with Cooper.

No problems and less expensive than Good Year, Michelin, etc.

I like Kumho's. My car had Michelin's on it when I bought it and when they wore out, I replaced them with a set of Kumho's. The car drove like a whole different car. I didn't realize how noisy and rough riding the Michelin's were.

I should have said when one of the Michelin's wore out. They were rotated regularly, but one wore out 'way ahead of the other three.

I am, however, a complete cynic when it comes to tires. My degree of success with tires over the years has been inversely proportional to the price I pay.

Been driving for better than 55 years but never had a set of Coopers till a year or so ago. Gotta agree, they are the best I have ever owned , so far. I think Wal mart sells rejects as I have never had good set from them and that includes Michelins. They were always out of round. Bought the Coopers from a small independent dealer and they are great, they are a little noisey though.

Goodyear Wranglers all terrain mud and snow. Ride real nice. Had them on the 1998 truck and were a very good tire. The truck had Bridgestone, that I replaced with the Wranglers, lasted 46,000 miles but the ride was terrible.

Big time thumbs down on Daytons which don't hold air on Mrs. Red's Trailblazer very well and also low profile Pirellis on Corey's Cobalt. They got replaced with Michelin.

I have gone through many sets of coopers on several different vehicles over the last 15 years and have never had a problem with them.

You may want to get them from a national chain so if you have a problem show up on the trip it could be covered under warranty.

We have a 2004 ford explorer that came with BF Goodrich RTAs. they lasted for 140,00. was in good shape when replace. Bought the same and after 2 yours still going strong

I also should say I really have not had any problems with the tires other then they all seem to wear out very quickly and I have ran alot of brands and even weird names made by name brands.
I know I could gain some tire life if I could ever find someone who could actually do an alignment based on tire wear patterns and not just "set it within spec" These specs have a wide range.

I vote Cooper also. Had them on car and both Suburbans. Very happy with them. Priced right and one of the few actually MADE IN USA!

Michelin wins hands down! I worked in a tire store from 1985 till 1995 and without a doubt Michelin was the top of the line.I have never seen one with a problem other than where something else caused it.When it came to a smooth ride there was Michelin and then there was all the rest.In the later years Bridgestone was also a real good tire for the money. Its Just my opinion but if I was looking for a smooth ride and didnt mind spending a little extra Michelin would be my choice.

I just bought a new set of Firestone's for the Mrs' van. For the longest time I hated Firestones. My '01 F-150 was made a month or two before Ford announced they would no longer use Firestones as OEM tires. They were still legal when I took them off at 88,000 miles, it's just we were making a Thanksgiving trip 1/2 way across the US and I felt tires with a little more meat would be nice if we saw snow.

Ran the van 900 miles in the last 2 days. The new Firestones are quieter than the OEM Bridgestones, were good in the snow and were about $40 a tire cheaper than Michelins. Guess I don't hate Firestones anymore.

I've had BFG T/A All Terrain's on two different trucks and was happy with them, the second set was a lot quieter than the first. By the way BFG (BF Goodrich) is owned by Michelin.

#1 Daughter's used Fusion came with a near new set of Uniroyal Tiger Paws on it, if you live somewhere that has snow don't do that.
