O/T Price of Sweet Corn Seed !!!

Gurney's has their "Gotta Have It" variety for that price, however their two standard varieties are $20 cheaper for 2#, plus there is a coupon worth $25 for a purchase over 50bucks, and a $50 coupon for orders of a$100 bucks or more. Everything is a gimic these days.

The complimentary "freebie" packets that are given out by the seed companies are looking mighty tasty this year. What they gave out last year has the best tasting sweet corn too. I hope they don't stop doing it.

Before you guys go through another year with the old fashioned varities of sweet corn at least give "Passion" which is a Seminis brand a try. It will make your old varities seem more like field corn than sweet corn. You will wonder why you spent any time and energy on those old tateless varities.

My grandmother was a hardcore G90 and merit grower until I brought her some of the Seminis varities. She planted two short rows the first year along with her normal varities. The next year she planted all Semis varities and she didnt even process any of the merit the year before because she said it was tasteless in comparison to the Seminis varities. My grandmother is a tough one to convert from any of her ways but this so obvious that it was a no-brainer even to her. I got her converted to hybrid tomatoes too but that's a whole additional story :)

The "passion" seminis will yield more product and a far superior product to any other sweet corn out there. If you dont believe it just try a small sample. It will be worth whatever you have to spend....

When I was a kid, we would take a load of produce to town. I would walk with my wooden wagon up one street and down the next. I would knock on every door. Corn was $.35 / doz. cukes were $.05 each peppers and tomatoes were $.10 each. By noon I would have $20.00 or moor in my pocket. I started doing this when I was 10 and gave it up after High School. I paid for my first year of college with this money.
Today people come to me;but, corn is $5.00/ doz and large tomatoes are $1.00 . Yes, we are making progress! Ed

If you look at bag it will say SU or SE or Sh2
SU will have 200O seeds per lb. SE maybe 2500 per lb. Sh2 maybe 3500 seeds per lb.
SU will have a 24 hr window to harvest and eat and the SE will have two day window to harvest and eat and the SH2 will have a week to harvest and eat and will taste better all week then the SU type.
