Just another truck that impressed me at the show in Republic MO last September. The guy who built it is in the second picture. He has all the photos of the build....It took him 10 years and he is a truck wrecker! The engine is a Perkins 6.354 and the chassis came from an RV/camper.

I always did have a fondness for a 4070. Thanks for sharing. There sure were a lot of them, for good reason.

Around 20 , 25 years ago I saw from a distance a mini Pete or a KW on a pickup chassis. Was something like this available as a kit back in those days?

Thirty years ago we had a fellow out here in Pahrump, Nevada that used to make those mini-trucks. His business was called MANSE Engineering and all of his trucks were custom built from scratch. The bodies were all made from hand-laid fiberglass. I used to stop by every once in awhile and watch him work, I never bothered to ask what they cost because I knew that I could never afford one. He's gone now and so is his shop, just an empty lot now.

lots of them still running around out here in there second or third life, nothing fancy, just good cheap reliable power

nice job, any idea what he used for a transmission? these are becoming a popular thing to build , but it takes a skilled fabricator to downsize all the pieces and get it to look right, id love to have one , in fact id buy one of these way before id buy a new plastic truck

If you found it interesting enough to take pictures of it, why did you hide it behind the red one, and then just catch the left side of it in the other picture?

Here's one I saw a while back. It was built by a machine shop in Weatherford Texas for Southwestern Dairy producers as a promotional tool. It was scaled down to the 8 inch tires that were available. It used a 3 cyl Dihatsu diesel engine. Everything on it is fuctuional including the dual aircleaners and chrome stacks. I talked with the builder and I forgot how many manhours they had in it, but I do remeber the cost.... $780,000. This was the first one with the second one in production. He admitted he was having a bit of trouble with the idea of letting it go to the people who hired him to build it as much time and effort as he put into it. The Walker milk tank is actually a cooler box that they use to give out milk and ice cream at events. This rig now travels all over in its own custom enclosed gooseneck traier to appear at parades and fairs.

I know a few years ago Diesel Power had an ad for kits to put 379 and W900 cab/hoods on Dodge or Ford frames, don't know if the company is still around.

It's not that hard to do, with a little patience, especially if you use a chassis donor with mechanical injection.

Here's one of our club member's 1/2 scale ride. Powered by a chevy chevette diesel. Everything else is hand built or modified parts from something else.
