The "flapper" goes back to as far as 1904 but really, in the US, 1920 saw the real beginning of the "era". My late Mom was born in 1910 and somewhere I have a picture of her all dressed up as a "flapper" when she was 17 or 18. Actually, it was the stylish (in) way to dress back then.

I couldn't wait to post this.
