Farmall 140 sediment bowl connection to fuel line need help

I purchased a new sediment bowl with a new carb. I am having difficulty connecting the fuel line to the sediment bowl because it did not come with the ferrule but the carb did. There are two brass pieces, one of them screws into the sediment bowl, the other screws into the first piece. But, when I tighten down the second brass piece with the new fuel line in it, it does not secure the fuel line. I have been to NAPA and purchased a 5/16 ferrule for the new 5/16 steel fuel line. The ferrule seems to be too tall, becauseit will not allow the two brass pieces too screw together. And, the people at yesterdays tractors do not know how too install there own parts. They only sell parts. I am trying to fix this tractor for my parent-in-laws.I would appreciate any help that I can get.My mobile is 803-686-2882. Thank you Jim Arnold

my opnion/guess is, unless you are building a show piece, why not get nippled ends for it and use new gas line hose and maybe put a in line filter...have a 230, that what i did...

I use brake line tube for gas lines. I would not do the in line fuel filter as the other guy says because most are made for systems with fuel pumps and in the long run can/will cause big problems down the road

That fitting is not made for a brass feral. It is made for a rubber compression seal. I often make them by just cutting a slice off of good rubber fuel line hose. You just need to use the same size as the line. 3/8 hose for 3/8 steel line.
