Oliver 1850 Tach

I'm looking for a tachometer drive for an Oliver 1850 with a perkins.... anyone have a parts tractor with one in working order or happen to have a NOS part sitting collecting dust they're looking to sell? Or does anyone know if any other Perkins powered ag equipment ran a similar tach drive? Any suggestions on how to rig up a Tach if I cant locate a factor drive?

Are you sure it's the drive,or is it that pin that runs the drive from that shaft? There's a pin, about 1/8th diameter,2 inches or so long that tends to twist off. Take that whole plate off that the drive bolts to and pull it out. If that long pin doesn't slide out, that's the problem.

the cable is fine, I checked that by chucking it in a drill and watching the free end.... its the drive, its a little elbow looking piece that goes on the end of the injector pump thats gear driven... the gears on the inside of the drive are stripped out

OK. Because where that angle drive drives off the shaft under the injector pump, that pin that goes in the end of that shaft and in the angle gear drive shears off when things start to run hard. It's more like a key,it's round, but has a raised edge the full length and that goes in a slot in the holes.

yeah, im definitely needing the drive..... any idea's if any other perkins powered equipment shared this part? I have my local Oliver guy on the hunt for one, called Harsin's and they dont have it, to which they referred me to someone else who dont have one...... that or any other idea's how to run a tach off a perkins?

Can't think of anything with that drive. Have you tried Larry Svehlak in Taylor Texas? He trades in NOS and used Oliver parts.
