How does this baler work.

I found this JD baler the other day. I got some pic. of it. I have never seen one like it. I do not understand how it works. The long tongue "4x4", has to go round & round it looks like.
Would it be pull by A team, stationary.

The horse baler is a big ratch pull type of deal. The horse walks around the trunstyle and it only pulls on the one side. When the horse in going away from the baler. Then it is spring returned for the next stroke.

There is one just about like this one at the Mt. Pleasant, Iowa show. I have a few pictures of it.

Well I can't get any pictures to post on the forum. Darn computer changes!!!!!

This video shows one that work about the same. The one at Mt. Pleasant is exactly like the one you have pictured.

Thanks so much JD. I now understand how it all works. I see the video now. and the pic. that you sent.

A few days ago, I had problem sending pic. on this site. Now they are doing okay.

If you want to see one working go to Lindsay Tx labor day weekend. It has baled every year I have went.That has almost every year for 10 years.
