Asparagus- how to freeze?

Several posts about asparagus- How do you freeze it? Blanch? Just bag and freeze? Whole or cut?

Inquiring minds want to know. We love it, and would put in some beds if you could freeze it with good results, and not just get some slimy mess when you take it out in winter. . .

Found one site that says you have to blanche it and cut it into short pieces first.

We always used to blanch and cut it into peices, because that is what our parants did. Now we cut it to our favorite length and put it in freezer bags. If we have tough skin on base of stalks, we peel them with a carrot peeler.

Best way is to just put it into bag and freeze it.

wash, cut, blanch, freeze. If you don't blanch it will taste like #$%@
