My wife usually brings me lunch to the field when shes not working in town, I was getting ready to start raking and she asked if the hay was ready to bale, I said yes and she told me to teach her how to rake. I rode a round with her and then started baling, she did great.

that sure made your day huh? Now since you got done in half the time, what are you going to do with all that EXTRA time -lol

My wife usually dr0ve the tractor on the baler for me. I always said an gal that can bale with a John Deere D(no power steering or live PTO), an IHC #45 baler, and a wagon made out of '36 Ford axles and keep the whole works together could drive any thing in the whole world.

My wife offers to help with the tractor driving now and then. After 35 years of offering one of these days I may take her up on it.
Actually she can drive any tractor I got and figure out how to operate it. Shes not afraid to get her hands dirty and help out. She always said she would rather work outside than do housework.
You are lucky to have someone that will do so for you.

My wife used to drive pulling the baler while I stacked on the wagon. She always complained that the steering wheel vibration bothered her. She said that the best anniversary present that I ever gave her was the new baler with thrower and three wagons.

My wife is an old farm gal. She always said she'd rather cultivate corn than do housework. Although she does OK at the housework, too.

When I was farming, before no-till, come planting time in the spring she'd work the ground ahead of me with one tractor and I'd follow with the planter. We'd get done in a hurry.

Our next door neighbor married a city gal who'd probably never been on a farm til they met in college. Within a year or two, she could wheel a big John Deere and 28' disc around as good as any male who'd grown up on a farm.

Many of us don't remember learning how to drive because we started so young, but is a skill that can learned by many people.

Looks like she did a good job. Nice to be able to do things together. My wife rakes for me on the weekends, does a better job than my brother.

I like seeing a young couple working together to get ahead. That is worth a lot in life. You will find working together toward something is a reward in itself. Even if you do not reach that goal you will still be ahead of where you started. My first and second wife both helped when and where they could. It made us a closer couple.

How do you like the new to you hay equipment???

Good for her!

No reason for the ladies to shy away from so much fun.

Be careful though, next thing you know she"ll want her own tractor.

Looks like y"all have plenty of hay.

Thanks for sharing your photos with us.

My wife of 43 years was a city gal, elementary teacher, but learned how to drive tractors, run equipment, milk cows, and do other livestock chores. Sorting hogs? Let"s not talk about that! Just a good incentive for me to build a crowding gate. Her over-extended knee, caused by a run away sow headed for a farrowing crate didn"t help much, either!. Pork tastes better now, raised by the kids.

The new equipment is working out great, covering ground faster and making better hay. I'm real happy with this 468, it will flat out eat the hay.
