Look what the Massey draged home.

Just took this old Ford County 1164 home a couple of nights ago, cab came home yesterday on a seperate trailer. Lots of interest in County tractors in our part of the world, the local County club I think may have 60 - 80 members. Dont think they are very powerful but they make it up in traction, this one has been used in forestry so no 3 pnt unfortunately. Once I identify if the rear end is 5000 or 7600 based I may start looking around for 3 pnt parts but Im thinking they are going to be hard to locate and expensive. Just something a little different from my Masseys.

Wow...if that was in the woods, it had a loving caring and careful operator! Usually anything involved in forestry is beat to a complete pulp! Nice score!

Bill my email is open, contact me if you cannot find parts for this tractor. We have a big Ford breaker near me and I can get the parts to you with medicine that my Uncle from Scotland buys over here. The medicine and sheep drenches can sit on top of the parts on a pallet!

Hi Sam
Dont seem to be able to reply through Email. You mentioned Strichen last day, I live about 12 miles from there. I will do some investigation regarding parts locally first after I identify if its 5000 or 7600 based rear end, I think the early ones were 5000 then later models upgraded to 7600 but there not a model I dont know that much about Fords and of course blue is not my normal coloUR.Thanks very much for the offer, I will definately keep it in mind. We have always intended visiting your country but as yet havent actually done it.

Good catch Bill. I saw your previous post about it. The only way I can think of to determine what tractor's hydraulics will fit is to call salvage yards with the cast number from your rear housing and ask them to check their 5000s and 7000s against it.

Bill" Both nice tractors. The Massey Ferguson was always my favorite tractor. Came close to buying one once but after 4 hrs on the road to look at it, Boy was it a wreck. Used in a logging small time operation. Never got out of the truck. Just put the truck in reverse and high tailed it back home.We rebuilt a red one IH 706 gasser. Still side by side, the Massey would win hands down. It's nice to see pictures of machinery that is well taken care of, including your trailer.Again I appreciate the pictures, keep em coming. I hope you find a rear end for your Ford.(for 3 point). Warmest regards,
LOU

Sam,

Do you know of any Ford tractor parts places on your side of the world that would have a good gauge cluster for a Ford 7000? They make reproduction ones that I can buy over here, but they are not original looking at all. I've been searching for a really good one for many years with no luck. Seems like the Ford 7000 is a bit of a legend over there, where as over here, it gets no respect.
