No,

I can't remember the last time I fueled up; must have been 'bout 80 acres ago? :>(

Yes, I should have stopped to repair that fuel gauge.

Only had to walk a mile to end the day tho. :>)

The '48 "G" JD that we had would only hold enough fuel for 4 hours of steady work. If you ran 10 minutes longer, it was out of fuel and you walked. Hated that when I was 2-3 miles from home. Those were in the days before we got a fuel tank in the pickup.

At least you had flat land to walk on. Piece of cake. I hate running out of fuel in a diesel engine.

I set a personal record yesterday ran out of has with 3 different tractors in 2 days. only had to walk 200 yards though.

I sent one of the boys up to rake hay one time shortly after he'd had knee surgery. Thought for all the world there was enough gas in that tractor. He ran out in the far corner, far end. He had to hop on one foot all the way up across the field to his car.

Come to think of it,I don't know if he ever raked hay after that.

Funny,

I have one of those temperamental fuel gauges.

Left the yard last night with only a few acres to bale and what I was sure was enough fuel. I was wrong. With literally 50ft of windrow left, the tractor started dropping RPM and missing. Shut it down quick and went for my mile long stroll as well.

We could market this as a new workout plan. Cardio for the walk home and weight lifting for dragging and hoisting fuel cans around. BW

We or so ago I was greasing up and getting ready to bale hay, fuel tank was right there in the back of the pickup with 100 gallon of diesel and I thought, naw I just fueled up yesterday and only baled 80 bales I'll be good for today. The 1135 Massey has one of them works when it wants to gauges and about 150 bales later 1/2 mile from the pickup I got to take one of them instructional strolls.

The gas can fits on the left axle of my 400, like it was made to ride there. I only had a gallon in the can and needed to save it for getting me back home. I had to put some in on the way back home. SDE

Larry NEIL:

Oh, you use "that word" too, huh. Congratulations, besides myself you're the third person that I've ever found that uses "that word".

When I disked with the 1066's I knew I had about a half hour til I was out of fuel when the fuel gauge quit moving. They never showed above 1/8 tank. And I was always the last one to get fuel in the mornings so I always got to walk to the truck to go get more, then get chewed out that I could barely keep ahead of the planter.
