sprayer foamer/marker question's

My sprayer is a co-op/shop built 275 gal, 3 point, pto roller pump job. I have been getting by counting rows, but next year i will have right at 120 acre's of grass to burn down. With the price of chemicals, I think a foamer would be a good investment to prevent overlaps/skips. I was thinking of a 25 gal 12v spot sprayer from TSC, and some sort of solenoid valve to switch between left and right. Where would a good source for a valve be? Are special nozzles used? Also what do you guys use for the foam agent, and how long will the foam stay on the ground, I was thinking if you got on a long run would the foam where you started be gone, or say when you fill up will it be gone? Any flaws in my plan, if so let me know!

Check the price of a simple GPS outfit. It maybe cheaper than the original cost of the foam sprayer and it will work much better.

We have a 45' sprayer with foam. There is an air compressor and pump that mix at the end of the booms. Works good.

If your starting from scratch I would look at a GPS unit with light bar. Could be used for other uses as well.

Call Sprayland, Marion, Iowa. They have complete units that are not that high. Also the cheap GPS light bar maybe a better way to go too. It depends on your fields.

Light bars do not work well on the contours we have. They work well in more square fields.

Agree , A GPS light bar is usefull for so much more than a spray marker. Farm GPS lightbars have been on the market for long enough that good units are avalible used for a fraction of new price. I have two Trimble EZ guide plus lightbars that were $3000 years ago, worth maybe $200 now. Units like that are capable of working with mapping, auto steer auto boom and much more. Check around, their out there real cheap.
