What is a good price to ask for when selling a good working and good looking New Holland Hayliner 68 baler? Thanks for your replies.

Just sold my MF12 for $1200. Had three people in line for it, guess I should have asked more. Kept indoors and was in great condition.

Here in SD that baler would bring $1000 in the condition you describe. That will vary though, not sure where you are or what your local market is like.

Ron, Good Balers like yours are always in demand here in SW Ohio. Go to tractorhouse.com. There are three listed today from $1150 to $3000.

Good luck, Bill

I found some online going from $1150 to $3000 seem awfully high for me I bought my 268 for $250 at a garage sale rusty but in very good working condition.

I got one for $200 at auction this spring, it needed some work and a tire. I would expect you could get more for yours in the spring or summer, but if you need to sell it now I would start it at $1000 or something and lower the price a little every week till it sells.

For a good working and good looking one I'd wait until next spring and sell it for $2000 or more.

The New Holland and John Deere square balers bring a premium - especially if you can show they are working. IH, MF, and others tend to run pretty cheap - as they should.

I took my tired JD 24T without a kicker to a consignment sale last May. It sold for $1700. Not bad for a 50 year old baler. I was happy.

Traded a old worn out Ford farm truck that was SHOT and that's a understatement . It ran tho. Gave the scraper a $100 bill too. We've bales about 2,000 bales and it missed four ties. Not to shabby !! John Deere 224T.

Balers like yours are mostly used by hobby farmers or someone with a few animals who do not depend on the sale of the hay for an income.. If it looks good and operates good it should sell between $400 and $800 dollars. More if you are in an area with a lot of small farms.

You can ask whatever you like. As a matter of principle I wouldn't pay more than 750 for one in excellent shape. 500 would be more average. When you're getting to an age where you can buy a baler 40 years newer like the 565 or 570 that will pretty near bale up the 68... and only pay 3-5000 for one of them, it doesn't make much sense to buy a 50 year old low capacity baler and start repairing it.
