I have a Massey ferguson 135 gas motor with the 3 cyl. Perkins in it I'm curious the exact Hp of the tractor

My reference book shows the 135 as having a 3-cyl. Perkins diesel at 37.8 PTO h.p., or a 4-cyl. Continental gas at 35.3 PTO h.p.
I don't use tractordata.com at all any more... way too many errors.

When equipped with the Z-145 engine, the Massey 135 was advertised as 35 PTO horsepower.

Continental Z-145 gasoline
4-cylinder liquid-cooled 145 ci [2.4 L]
Bore/Stroke: 3.375x4.062 inches [86 x 103 mm]

Nebraska Tractor Test 899:
Test Date: May 19 - June 9, 1965

Type: 145 gasoline 12-speed 2WD

PTO power (rated engine speed): 35.37 hp [26.4 kW]

PTO fuel use (engine speed): 3.2 gal/hour [12.1 l/hour]

PTO power (rated PTO speed): 32.55 hp [24.3 kW]

PTO fuel use (PTO speed): 2.9 gal/hour [11.0 l/hour]

Drawbar power (max): 30.45 hp [22.7 kW]

Drawbar fuel use (max): 3.4 gal/hour [12.9 l/hour]

Drawbar pull (max): 4,105 lbs [1862 kg]

Max pull gear: 2LH

The 3 cyl Perkins 152.7 CU.IN gas engine was their diesel engine converted to gas. Heavy Duty engine with 7.7 more cu.inches than the 4 cyl Continental engine. My info shows the Perkins gas at 37.55 P.T.O. hp compared to 35.37 hp on the Continental.

Fordfarmer, What "Reference book" do you use?

I have several, mostly on Fords, but for this I
looked in 'Farm Tractors 1950-1975' by L.Larson.
Gives basic info (no. of cylinders, fuel, unbalasted
weight, etc.) and Nebraska test number and h.p. Does
not list -all- makes/models/variants, but has a lot
of info.

NE Test No. 1009, 04/28/1969 - 05/08/1969, MF 135 with Perkins 152.7 CI 3 cylinder Perkins gasoline engine: 37.55 Max PTO HP at rated 2,000 engine RPM.

The 145 CI Continental enginie produced 35.37 Max PTO HP also at rated 2,000 engine RPM (NE Test No. 899, 05/19/1965 - 06/09/1965).

The Gospel has spoken.

Under NO circumstances should one EVER rely on tractordata.com.
