Allis AD-3 Road Grader

Hello,
I have an old Allis AD-3 Road grader that my dad used on construction and later around the farm for years. We start and use it all the time. I had it running a month ago. Today I went to start it and it won"t start. Will fire starting fluid but won"t keep running. In the 45 years I remember dad using this it always fired right up. Dad is passed away and I need to get this thing running. I am pretty sure it is a GM diesel. Is there a place to prime it? Hate to use to much starting fluid. Need advise guys!

Most common thing is the emergency KILL flap on the side of the breather has got flopped to the close position. Been on a lot of Detroit service calls for this very reason. If you can,t find it post back and I will e-mail you directions on checking it out.

It sounds like jm. may have it for you, but if that is not it the most common problem with diesels is the filter.

Well thanks to the great help of this site and the expert advise of JM the grader is now running. JM talked me through some pretty serious stuff. We had the motor opened up and got the stuck injector working again. This wouldn't have happened without out JM. My dad is smiling down on us now. Thanks for the help.
