Headed toward Bryce Canyon Utah from Phoenix any advice on where to plan on stopping for the night. Anywhere south of the canyon then we will
drive on in tomorrow?

We were there last year in late Sept. St. George may be your best bet, many places closer to Bryce and Zion close sometime in Oct.

No motel advice cuz were in the RV each time we travel in Utah.. However I LOVE Bryce Canyon as much as the Grand Canyon. While at Bryce if you stay at Ruby"s Inn (my advice) the Park Tour Bus picks you up and runs all day and stops at each scenic vista/overlook, its the ONLY way to see Bryce, take the bus.

As I"m sure you know Zion Natl Park (a place of peace and tranquility) isn"t much farther to the South and West, Id sure take it in if I was that close. Likewise, take the bus tour there instead of driving

Last year we RV"d Utahs "Grand Circle" of Natl Parks. Zion, Bryce, Capitol Reef, Canyonlands and Arches plus Dead Horse Canyon BEAUTIFUL

The Natl Parks, Americas Best Idea, I advise everyone to visit them all and if you have the Senior or Access Pass the prices are better

Enjoy Bryce

Check around; I think there are motels on the N-S highway west of Bryce, but I don't recall any motels to the east of Bryce (but it's been a few years since we were there last. Bryce is even impressive from 30,000 feet flying overhead.

Last month, the wife, myself, and out dog visited Brice, Zion, and Ceader Brakes. Cedar Brakes is a lot like Brice. Always good to get back home though. If it was up to me I would have just stayed home. Stan

I second St. George. When I worked in Vegas, we went to Zion, its a must see. Also off of I 15 a little NE of Vegas is a Nevada state park called "Valley of Fire", also a real neat place to see. Just west of Vegas is Red Rock canyon, a pretty place, and a little further west in the southeastern reaches of Death Valley in Calif, is an undiscovered treasure, Tecopa, CA which features hot springs at a very reasonable price. Death Valley is really neat, especially Scottys Castle at the north end.
