Buda engines in tractors lories (trucks)

Thanks to all that replied to my last post. Yo all are sum of the best.
At the coffee shop the other day ve wer talking aboot Buda engines in tractors. I recalled that in the mid 1950s a man in the neighborhood bought a WD45 Alice Chalmers with a diesel engine, of course it vas a Buda.
How many other tractors had the Buda? Do anyone know?
I remembered a trucker had a White semi tractor with one and it vould lay a trail of black smoke a mile long.
We ask Buba if he ever had a truck with Buda engine? He said that he didn't have Buda, but he hauled several loads of Margarine.
 
had an uncle that had a tiling machine that had a buda engine in it, late 50"s when he bought it used , sold it after they tiled their fields
 
Budas have been around for a long time, installed in a much larger number of trucks than tractors/ag, simply because thru the early years there were a lot of "assembled" trucks, something like 200+ "makes" in existence around 1920, altho most were relatively low production...
Budas went into all kinds of const/mining/ag/ind'l/RR etc etc eqpmt; a comprehensive list might not be possible any more...
 
According to what I have read, the first diesel truck in the US had a Buda. It was put in a logging truck in the early 30's. While I'm typing this I'm looking at a picture of a 1940 Ford single axle semi truck with a Buda 6-DT-317 engine putting out 75 HP. Gross weight was 60,000 pounds. They must not have planned on getting there fast. Jim
 
Allis Chalmers put a bunch of their engines (formerly Buda)in trucks in the late 60's, hoping to become an engine supplier to the trucking industry.

John Deere jumped on the bandwagon very soon afterwards.

The AC engines did fairly well in the tests, while the JD engines failed miserably, but neither were acceptable to the trucking industry.
 
I don't know what it was originally made for, but I have a Buda - Lanova 6DT317 with a 16 inch diameter manual "Twin-Disc" clutch, that I use on my Mine Hoist.
