Went out this morning and both natural gas furnaces were not working,so I went through them and discovered that there was no gas. I went out to the regulator and warmed it up with a hair dryer ,that got the gas flowing and the furnaces fired right up. Went to look at the thermometer it was minus 38 Celsius with the wind chill at minus 49 Celsius !!!!!!I was going to plow out my driveway but at that temp my massey 202 would not be happy .

We have been down to -15°F, but up to 23°F. Had to plug the cub cadet 7305 in this morning for an hour to move some bales.

That's -36.4 F with a wind chill down to -56F. Almost cold enough to freeze the milk of human kindness! Makes +15F this AM here seem almost balmy! But still dang cold for this time of Dec in Seattle!

One winter day I vas in Bismark, ND. having breakfast, two ranchers sit down and said it vas varming up. The other one ask how warm it is, and the one said that it has warmed up to 20below already. How could he tell the difference?

That's a bit too chilly for me. -40C is the same as -40F. I saw -36 once here in Northwest Iowa in the 62 years I've been here on earth. I hope I never see it again. A couple of times we have been in the -30 range with a 30 MPH wind. That was wicked. Jim

I saw -40 to -42 degrees quite a few times where I grew up in ND; now we live in the Arizona desert and hate it if the temp gets down to 40. It got down to 34 this morning so didn't go outside until this afternoon.

I was working in NW Minnesota one January when it was that cold. I just let my Diesel run for 2 days because the plug in's were all taken at the hotel. It only used about 1/8 tank running all night.

Was stationed in Fairbanks Alaska while in the Army and regularly saw -60f. Last winter that I was there was in the field (January) and it was -101f ambient with out the windchill. Day I left in July was 100f above. Went to work this morning and truck thermometer read 23f. Very unusual for Puget Sound this time of year.
