Don't know about a 2-53 in a Deere, but on a 4-53 in an Oliver there is a Corbin Hose clamp to hold it in place> I can also look in the morning I have my 53 series in line parts book close by I think.

Your talking about #25? Nothing shows in the parts book like you say. I don't remember how mine went in. The service manual only showed this one picture of it anywhere. It might be held in with the bend in the rod?

Are talking about the rubber hose that goes around the the fuel rod running between the governor and head? If so they have a plastic clamp with teeth, kind of a cross between a hose clamp and a zip tie. Every gasket set i've ever seen came with the original style clamp, but a regular old hose clamp will work just fine
