How cold is where you are

Not that bad in East Central Iowa. It will be -10 tonight with high of -5 tomorrow. I have seen it below 0 for many days in the past.

It is winter in the Midwest.

Not that bad in mid Michigan. +9F. It was zero yesterday morning, supposed to be -2 or so tonight.

Dang, Chris. You's in a heat wave. It was 0 when
I went out to push snow this morning. Now I know
why you moved south.....

its so cold mutts using the litter box didn't
even go out for a ride. just got done cuttin
wood no wind thank god i ripped my pants
hope the neighbor lady wasnt watching . i
dont like to look at the temp then i might
think its cold just go as it feels

I live way south in Macon Ga. and it was 35 at 12:00 noon and is going down in the teens tonight and colder for the next few day's and maybey longer. I am ready for Spring.

Here in central NC, the NOAA update at 11:55AM said it is +26F, with a chill factor of +18F. It is supposed to hit all of +29F today, low of +16F. The seven day outlook is for lows mostly in the teens, and highs only slightly above freezing except for one day of forty something. That is quite unusual for this area. It's keeping me inside and I need to be working outside!

It was 1 in South-east Central Ohio this morning. Not much wind at all (especially compared to last night while doing chores in the barn) so the wind chill wasn't much.

45F today s'posed to drop to 38F tonight......that's cold enough for
me! here in the moderate climate of Northern Ireland.

It was 2°F this morning in ne MD. Hard to determine how much snow we had. It wasn't as much we had in 2010. I blew off the sidewalk and driveway on Tues had to do it again this morning. I did several of the neighbors walks too. My wife gave the snowblower in 1997 for my birthday. Sure has been a good blower made by MTD. It starts easily with the AC starter using the primer and choke. Here's a picture from 2010. I'll be 81 next month.

I had to do a double take, when I looked at the thermometer this morning, -10 6am, we don't seem to get a lot of below 0 F weather, though when I worked up north in Malone, we did get -30F and that is a game changer, ran a lower weight oil in my truck, HD battery installed, sure she would start but the F150 5spd would not go into gear for a bit. Around 0 is not too bad if you are dressed for it, no wind, and you are moving, but this morning with the wind, definitely insect reduction weather or I hope LOL !!

Ya , hopefully the deer ticks for one! They have been real bad the last few years because we haven't had enought freezing weather. CDC put out a report about it 2 years ago.

Overnight low 3 miles south of Malone: -27*,-35* in Massena.Haven't heard how low it got in Saranac Lake but I'd bet it was close to -40*

It's -11 right now in Ely which is in NE Minnesota. It never got above -5 today and is supposed to be -30 tonight. Worst part is the wind is blowing.

I just finished posting a rant on the 9N/2N/8N board about snow/cold! We were at 11-13 degrees in Waverly, Va. at 7:00 this morning with a high of about 25-27 for the day. Calling for 8 degrees tonight and 32 tomorrow. It's a job just keeping pumps/hoses from freezing at work in the wash bays for the trucks/trailers!

Yes they were thick here, fall '12, walked the neighbors pug, he likes to play, loves attention, problem was, do that on the lawn, and there's half a dozen ticks on him, good thing he's got short hair and its a light color, easily spot them. One odd thing this fall, I was in the woods quite a bit, here and another farm, both times my friends picked up ticks, me not a one, and I thought I was the tick magnet, seemed I'd get them out of thin air, knowing I've not been in the brush or similar. Friends wife got nailed on top of the head, some new tick borne illness, she almost died, had blood transfusions, months of recovery, well just takes time til you feel 100%, darned things are carrying some nasty bacteria or whatever the heck it is, not all, but its russian roulette with these things. I look back at the aerial photos, remember how things were as a kid even 20 years later from say the photos of '52, fields were still mainly clear, not many deer around, now all that has changed, lots of trees and vegetation, abundant deer, never had black flies, gnats so thick they swarm you, never ran into deer flies unless you went to the woods at the other end of this place or the mountains, mosquitoes probably the same, never had such nuisance insects, I never saw a tick as a kid, on a dog, horse or any other animal, rabbits too. This cold snap does have the potential to kill insects, apparently their "antifreeze" acclimatizes, but when the temperature has a dramatic change, they can't take it. -10, too cold for much work outside, so heck, let it drop to -30, won't see those bugs til July, by then gardens are all planted, firewood done, "have at it cold" weather LOL !

12 F below most of the day yesterday in Hawks MI near the Mac Bridge and Lake Huron. 3 below right now.
