MH44 Steering

I am working on adding power steering and tightening up the steering on the MH44. I got the torque multiplier mounted, now to add power steering pump and replace loose components.

I also got the 195 thermostat in today. The radiator is out until I get the tractor painted the correct color.

Looks REALLY neat, but I think the bracket should be a little thicker/stronger. It takes all the reactionary force from the torque multiplier trying to turn the opposite way of the torque it is applying to assist steering at the moment.

I have a 424 IH that a PO installed a similar setup, and the bracket has broken and been welded more than once.

David Do not know what you have in store for the ps pump but I had a 44 that the ps pump was mounted right below where you photo is and driven from the drive shaft there in the photo. They just removed the coupling put a v pulley on the shaft and replaced the coupling. Was a neat set up down out of the way.

Definitely something to consider. You did such a nice job, I hated to say anything, but it DOES look a bit light.

Also, when a front wheel hits something, if there is ANY kickback through the steering, that bracket gets the brunt of it.
