snow and ice

Here in SC it is 33 degrees and snowing. Not a heavy snow fall but I swept the back porch off a few minutes ago and the North wind is getting it covered again. When the wet stuff starts to freeze it will be slick. They are forecasting a pause later today, then more snow Wednesday morning, possible accumulation of 8 inches. It is supposed to go up the East coast so everybody from here to new Englans is expedted to get some.

Atlanta has declared that they are prepared this time. Schools closed there as well as here. Much of the eastern part of SC is expecting a lot of ice.

Looks like the midwest is missing this one, but since you already have an accumulation of snow with no melting I'm sure nobody there feels left out.

No, we're not feeling left out. We do have snow in the forecast later in the week.
BTW, it's 15 below here this morning.

Have about 1 inch here in Oconee County. About 32 degrees It has come down hard at times. Talking between 5 and 10 inches by Thursday.
It is beginning to weigh the trees down.
Looks like a good day to work in the shop by the nice warm wood heater.

You southern folks sure do have it tough. Watertown, NY is about 40 miles from my home and they had over 30 inches in 24 hours just a couple of days ago.
Us north country folks have tried to stop the cold from going South but someone down there must be praying for snow or maybe a day off.
Just funning you. WE know that in a week or so you will be working land and getting your gardens in and we will be doing the same old thing, shoveling snow.
Good luck and happy farming.

For our area, its been a cold winter. Had temps in the low 30's, drizzle all day and wind.

Supposed to have a big warm up starting tomorrow. I'll be glad to see it.

A friend of mine moved from MD to Hiawassee GA. He's use to snow and ice. He probably kept his tire chains. He was drafted in 1952 and I was drafted the following year. My brother joined the Air Force in 1951. Hal

I got 9"-10" over night added to 6"-8" over the weekend. 30 miles NW of here got another 30" or so and it's hitting Syracuse NY right now.

You southerners will do just fine...it's fun to watch car drivers on the evening news, seems like their strategy is "put it in gear, then floor it".

We don't get to hear those real high notes of tires screaming up here very much. Kind of like the fat lady singing at the opera.

Been there and dealt with them..

About all they need to do is EDUCATE those people...TEACH them to ONLY use ONE FOOT, when driving..!!

More then once I had to get out of my Pete (Empty Dry Box) and walk ahead and have the car drivers only use their one RIGHT FOOT and they got along just fine..otherwise, they hit the brakes BEFORE they hit the gas and would turn side-ways (every time)..
Ran (Empty from Peach Tree City, Ga to Dalton, Ga. Found the Plant was going to be Closed for 3 Days, because of 3" of snow.. Then, ran (Empty) BACK to Fasson at peach Tree ga and picked up a load..NO problem at all..
EDUCATION is what they NEED (if you can get around their "Slows")..!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The MN weather guessers are promising us warmer temperatures with highs close to 30 a few times next week. If things turn back to normal the ice will be off the lakes by close to their normal mid-April.

If you can sweep it, you don't really have snow. That's called a "heavy frost" up here. An inch is just "a dusting". Wake up to 2-4 FEET and them you have SNOW!
