I live in a valley and the cell signal is very poor. If I stand just right and hold my foot in the right place I can get one bar. I know that there are boosters out there and I was wondering what ones you guys have? Pros and Cons of each one. Thanks

Bob

have a similar situation & called Wilson Electronics. They asked mo to make measurements according to their instructions. Did that & they came back with over $1,000 worth of permanently installed equipment. I still walk about 200 feet away & talk.

Check with your cell provider and ask about a "femtocell". It's NOT a signal booster. It is a mini-cell that uses your internet connection to connect into your cell providers network.

I have a Wilson signalboost DT cost $200 to 250 at bestbuy had signal outside phone almost never worked didt work inside at all, works good in the house 2 rooms unless weather is very poor. They have a booster for large area that will cover most of the house. Been using over 2 years happy so far!!

Check other providers you may find one that has a good signal at your house.
aTT won't work at my place but Verizon and Sprint work very good. I'm using Verizon to send the message.

S2710, Set yourself up a WiFi at you home! if you have a more modern Cell phone it should not be any problem at all. My new Droid phone has WiFi phone capability, just put the unit in front of your desk unit computer!
N600 Wireless Dual band Router

If you have cable internet (fast) at home, just call your cell provider (mine is verizon) and complain often and they will eventually give you one of those devices that connects to the internet and your cell phone will connect wireless through that for home stuff. My wife stayed on the phone with them until they relented and sent the device and it works great. The antenna part is a small cord that you put near a window. The device itself is like a router you can place on a desk or windowsill etc. When your phone goes through this to the internet, it doesn't cost you any minutes on your phone plan either.

You wanting better service when at your house or elsewhere? At out place in northern Michigan we barely get one bar, off and on. With a Wilson booster - we get 3-4 bars. With the booster and a root-top antenna - the bars are off the scale. The booster is 12 volt and works well on-the-road also.
Keep in mind this one is for 3G. 4G LTE requires a different frequency antenna and amp and is way too expensive. We have 4G LTE in other places but revert to 3G at home.

and sometimes, you are just out of luck.
At my camp, no broadband internet of course,
and the only way to get a cell phone to at least send a text message was to hike to the top of a hill, climb up in a treestand
and hope....
on some days it would work.
Verizon was the only one that would even attempt to work.
Talking to them, they were honest.
not enough customers to make multiple towers (hills) worth it.
Old fashioned landline was the ONLY option for talking and dial-up internet.
hope they stay around a bit longer

Yo Bob, for RV use your beer drinking cheese and brats eating well to do "Brother in law" bought a Wilson and I bought a cheaper Wilson knock off on Flea Bay and they BOTH seem to work great. We have a small antenna on the RV rooftop which leads to the amplifier inside and it in turn wires to an internal repeater antenna inside the RV. It usually raises my bars at least one more often two and yeppers better cell phone operation. The other type of cell phone boosters are the cradle units but I like our dual antenna (receiving and repeater) system the best. If he and I agree on that how could you question what kind lol.

For a fixed residential application Id hang the receiving antenna up high on a roof peak and the amplifier and repeating antenna somewhere in the middle of your home.

In the "valley" where you live up there do you have running water and electricity yet??

Bring your bride and come on down to the Flywheelers and we can drink some Ying Ying

Hope we dont need to run our AC in the RV again today, whew its getting hot down here, Im sure you 'feel our pain" right???
