anybody notice the gold and white mustang that apears in virtuallty every episode? wonder what the story is on that car

Don't think it was a situation of "palmed" cash. Back in the day (today also) companies would sponsor shows or pay for product placement. Just a good way for studios to make a extra buck or two.

Google the Green Acres show. Vehicles went all ford after FoMoCo sponsored the show part way through the first season I think. Most significant was Mr Kimball drove a Jeep in one or two appearances then it was a Bronco. Only thing that didn't change was the tractor Oliver drove in the intro.

A lot of shows had commercial right in the show. Andy and Barney doing a coffee commercial (MMmmm good coffee!),cigarette commercials built in the Jack Benny Show. Common practice. General Mills used to be the exclusive sponsor of a lot of shows that did things like that.

Lois had a Nash convertible, and Clark had a Nash Healy. Ya think its because those were the coolest cars around, or just the coolest that their sponsor, Nash, had available?

Wasn't that also the reason soap operas were called soap operas? Oh for the drama lol....

big, I learned something (useless?) here tonight!

I always took Kimball's machine to be an IH Scout!

After your post, I shuffled around GOOGLE, and the consensus is (and the pictures prove) that you're right!

Yah. Now we call em reality shows :)

Watching a movie awhile back, there was a Caterpillar excavator very prominently in a scene. All of the Cat markings had been taken out. I commented to my wife that apparently Cat declined to pay for the advertising.
