Just wondering if there is a way to measure ph level in the water of the boiler of hot water system? I posted article on zone valves not opening cause of the antifreeze in system. It was mentioned about the acicidity after the antifreeze gets old in thesystem. Antifreeze is est.6yrs old.

Are you supposed to replace the antifreeze or just ad an additive package to it every so often?

You can get pH paper for checking stuff like heavy duty antifreezes. I know you can get it at the Deere dealer. Probably any other farm dealer to. Online sources as well. Fleetgard has it too. Look up litmus paper.

We had a RECYCLER at work,in theory we could make anti freezes from water, but it was cheaper to just add anti freeze if the coolant was really weak. I would think a good auto parts store will have or can get the additives you need to set your PH
