Hey folks found a JD in the woods and she is pretty good condition. Complete, locked up but tin is not bad. She"s some type of L. Where are the S/N tags on these? I know where to look on the red ones :)

Ill post a few pictures once I remember how :)

Most of the time the serial number tags are buried somewhere in a field. But seriously, they were on the axles and usually they are knocked off.

Serial number is located on a tag on the backside of the right axle. Most are gone from people dragging their feet over the axle or from hanging a logchain over it. No other place to find the ser# on that tractor.

Thanks Ill go back and look. I did see casting codes not sure if this would help identify the year. Not sure of the model either but looks like hollow tubes. So I assume an "L"? Paint (ya paint) looks yellow but we know that adds up to nothing.

Trying to figure out what I have here...

See if the bell housing is part of the block or not If it is it is a John deere engine, if not it is a Hercules.

Block is bolted to housing. First I have heard of Hercules. Is this good or bad? Am I only going loose 150% of my investment restoring this or more?
