What series MM is that? They are not too plentiful around NW NC. A cousin has a 'JT' that came from Nebraska. It is great that the one in your photo has made it in the same family this long.

I agree with you, Pops!

I was going to post something similar and you beat me to it and did a better job of making a point in a few words than I could have!

That is a model R. I think that was the second most model MM sold, the U being the most sold.

Judging from the smile on his face, the lack of dirt, and the shine of the paint - it looks like a "first day" photo. I dunno what it's worth, but it would sure look nice painted up and restored to it's original glory.

I wonder why the front rims were reversed in that old picture? A real thumb breaker if you were to hit a stone or something.

Pops and Bob,
The gent in the pic had three children. A boy and two girls. None of them ever maried and there is knowone to pass the tractor down to, The son Bill who continued the farming operation died about a year ago, and it is time for the tractor to go. There is also an incredable amount of well cared for hand tools from years back that are going to be sold.

My Dad reversed the rims on our narrow front John Deeres to help the dirt pass between the wheels, rather than pushing the dirt in front of the wheels when they were narrowed up. This was in sandy land.
