looking for some pics of early JD D's

Looking for some pics or a scan of a manual for the steering of a 28 D. Trying to figure out what is missing . Someone cobbled a car steering column with the box on the end . It stands straight up as if you stood to drive. Any and all information on the D series tractor is welcome. This is a bucket list tractor I just got.

Can't help you with the D but rear view pics of a tractor are hard to come by. I found that out last winter trying to find pics of a drawbar setup on a tractor I have in the shop. The best luck I had was You tube where the camera man walks around the tractor. Google is your friend. Jim

Does this help, only pic I can find with steering in a sales brochure from 1937. John

Dad had 3 of those miserable beasts; it was a happy day when the last one left the farm when new tractors became available after WWII.

They weren't worth taking a picture of, especially the one that broke a crankshaft.

Just a note that Rosewood Machine in Ohio has most of the parts to fix the steering. You can find them on the internet and look at the parts. I have used them and the parts work fine. Good luck - Bob

Thanks guys. The pics, lit, pdf files are great. Looks like I need all the steering parts. Also a mag and carb. Pretty straight tractor I bought and I don't think it will take much to hear it run.
