Need a little help

I Mow lawns for a local bank on their foreclosured
and bank owned properties until they sell. They
need me to mow a yard, the house has been empty
since last summer. Need to take the tractor and
spinner mower first before I use the lawn mower.
House is less then 5 miles away, so I plan to just
drive it there instead of trailering it. My
question is how much to charge for the tractor. It
will take about 1 hour travel and 1 hour mowing
time. The lawn mower I'll charge my usual rate

All of the lawn guys around here charge $1 dollar per minute , no transport time. so how much is your tractor worth?

I charge $65/hr. from the time I leave home to the time I get back.

If you have a good customer, you might consider eating the transportation cost. But they shouldn't balk at paying double the normal mowing rate for the first mowing. You have to make it worth your while, but if they think you're nickel-and-dimeing them with transportation costs they might look for another contractor.

If it is a first time mow job, be careful of hidden hose bibs. I don't like to see water shooting up on my return round. You probably already know that, Just be careful. I don't think I would charge a lot more than you usually charge. Maybe enough to cover your fuel, and a little time. Stan

45 hp tractor and a 6 ft. mower I charge $50.00 an hour from the time I leave to the time I get back and no travel charge as long as they are within five miles. Past five miles I charge $1.00 a mile travel.

In a situation like that I charge for the travel one way as well as the hook-up time.
