I have said before its been an interesting summer. Seems like I have spent more time repairing equipment and spinning my wheels than working. That changed today! I got a call from a 90 year old WW II vet that is a dear friend of mine. He had bought a "new" 1962 cub and wanted me to haul it home. I desperately needed to be combining oats but this job was more important. To make a long story short it took us until a little after 12 to get it home for him. He tried to hand me a check and I said Lillard you have already paid me. He protested and I said you paid me before I was born. When you were island hopping in the Pacific and cleaning up in the Phillipines you more than paid me. I said I couldn't take money from you any more than I could take money from my father for helping him. He about teared up on me and I dang near did. I parked the cub next to his porch so he could sit and look at it.{He is an amputee} When I got home the combine header didn't want to lift and it started to sprinkle rain but by golly at least I got one thing right this summer!
