i recently installed a freeman trip bucket loader on my 544. loader raises up fine and will lower if tractor is at a idle. problem is if engine rpms are raised loader wont come down. full throttle loader will raise no matter witch way leaver is pulled up or down. any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated. also loader will come down with load in bucket.

Problem has to be in your loader valve. Is your valve centering? Can you change it to the valve that raises and lowers the hitch.

The old Freeman 2000 trip bucket loader we used to have on the farm was power-up, gravity-down. It worked great on the old Super M that only had one-way hydraulics.

Your problem is that your 544 has TWO-way hydraulics. Instead of just letting the oil flow back into the tractor, it is trying to apply pressure to a disconnected coupler.

It sounds like your valve is leaking internally, so that when you try to force it down, the oil sprays across and actually goes out the "UP" hose. Normally it would trip the relief valve, but if your valve leaks internally...

If you are using the factory hydraulic remote beside the seat, try moving the lever to the "float" position to lower the loader. Only problem with this is you won't have much control over how quickly the loader drops.

A trick you might want to use is to connect the unused hydraulic coupler to a hose that dumps straight back into the tractor's hydraulic reservoir. Then "DOWN" will work properly because the oil has some place to go.

The remote valve on your 544 has a float position
From the neutral or center position the first part of the valve travel when you push the lever forward is pressure. Push the lever further ahead is float. This will let your loader drop. as with
any valve feather it for the drop speed you want.

thanks for the replies. i did have the return hose stuck in the transmission to start with because i didnt have a quick connector when first put loader on it was same as now. sounds like my problem is in loader valve, can they be rebuilt fairly easily, o rings? or need to replace or have rebuilt at shop
also have tried both remotes and all lever positions.
