Acquired a rusty JD 'B' this weekend. Haven't checked it out yet. It's a kerosene engine, elec start, 6 speed w/plate frame, has PTO, no hydraulics. Of course it's locked up. Suspect SERIOUSLY locked up ! S.N. B -187331. I'll just say the price was right. Man we got it from has another one, looks much better, but it's buried under quite a pile of 'stuff' in a storage building. It's newer, all I can tell about it is the paint is decent and it has the stamped steel frame. I'm going to try to get that one too.

That, according to my serial# list would be a 1946 model. Mix up the ATF/acetone, pull the rocker arms to close the valves (if they aren't stuck open) and start the soak process. The rubber looks ok in the photo. Hope you turn out better than I did on a 60 I bought.

Thanks Old Popper, nice to know what year it was built. Now I really want to fix it. It was 'minted' the same year I was !! Will try the atf/acetone trick too. Ken

Tires look good - that's half the battle (financially speaking).

I'd get a shield on that flywheel before doing too much with it though. That ring gear would love to snag you.

So true ! Maybe I'll wake up some morning and decide that the old tractor is just going to be 'yard art'. Would like to make it a rusty runner if possible.
