Cold ride home

I brought my little Ford home from the grain bins today, about 4 miles at 24 degrees, my face was almost frostbit. I got the back blade on tonight, will wash, put chains on and heat houser tomorrow.

Blade? Heat Houser? I got the 8' blower mounted on the tractor with the heated cab the other day. Did I mentioned HEATED CAB!

Hate them cold tractor rides!

I got my tractor set for rain but so far we have had none just clouds. I do not need a heater nore have very cold weather. I am getting ready for strong winds and warm weather form them. Yes I live in Riverside So. Ca. Our weather right now is the opposite of what you get around this time of year. I wish we got rain we need it.

The heat houser sure makes a world of difference. I've got the one on the 1850 Oliver, been picking corn with it. I don't get cold until I get in to the cab of the White to bring the loads home.

Tomorrow or Sunday I've gotta drive about 5-8 miles to go chop some corn we're buying, and more that I figured out the oil leak on my 18 it's going back on the chopper. Only problem is that I found an exhaust leak so I don't really want to put the weather break on again so I don't suck fumes all weekend.

the cold is kinda a blessing for me it means the asphalt season is coming to an end no more twelve fourteen hour days plus two hours of driving time to and from a day time to join the bean line and stay home for a couple months or more i hope

David If any of you cold weather guys want it I have a like new heat houser ,round plastic windshield the whole works. It is Kubota orange, one of my customers ordered it for like a 70hp Kubota then changed his mind. I think it will knock down some for shipping. Anyone that needs it can have it if they pay the shipping or come get it. Middle Tennessee.

I thought you meant the ride home from dinner with your wife when you get caught looking at the waitress

Ill bet you'll be glad to get the heat houser on. It makes a big difference. Back in 71 when I was 20 we had a very late harvest with corn harvest starting for us on the opening day of pheasant season which was the second weekend of November at that time. The corn wasn't drying down and we were cribbing ear corn so we had to wait for the moisture to get down to where we could crib it without it molding.

Anyways, after the cribs were full we had a neighbor come in with his 45 Deere combine to get the rest of it. We didn't have a bin so being low man on the totem pole I had the job of hauling corn 6 miles one way to town with a Deere A and two wagons. On an average day I would make three trips, a good day saw four trips. This was getting around The first week in December here in northwest Iowa. I had no heat houser, just me sitting there facing the cold wind 12 hours a day. This went on for maybe ten days or so. Now you know why I'm not too wild about tractor rides!

I have used a full faced helmet when it is cold. Might not look sharp, but that isn't why I wear it. It was 7 degrees out tonight when I came in from plowing snow.

They hold up well. Bought one for our 1855 about 10 years ago. We've had one for our Massey 285 for probably over 30 years and it's still on every winter. Have one on our 165 as well

I recomend buying one made to fit your tractor. There is a lot of difference from one tractor to the next, and the one size fit s all ones sometimes just don't fit. I bought the 18's from Femco. The Massey 285 and 165 both have original Massey ones, which were also made by Femco.

This is when it was new. Still in great shape.

I need to mulch leafs one more time before I chain up and put snow blade on. Still have some leafs on trees. Mother nature is mad about something. She may not give me a chance to mulch.
