OT- Multi-Tractor pile-up(semi's). Many members will see this on national news today. Michigan, I-94, west of Battle creek, east of Kalamazoo. Big pile up. As far as I know, I am the closet member to this site. Just last night I went on I-94 at exit 92, It is the ramp I use, to go east. The highway currently closed from marker 85 to 92. I-94 is About 10 miles north of me, as the crow flies.

One truck hauling fireworks. FD said they would not try putting that one out. Lots of smoke and TV crew showed the fireworks going off. Hey ck did you go out side to see if you could see the smoke?

I'm outside of Detroit but know that stretch of I-94 towards Chicago can be dicey. Lake effect snow and areas clear one minute, whiteout the next. Hard to imagine that many people in a pileup that kind of tells me it came on pretty fast.

I drive that I-94 route to Chicago frequently. We had a white out there first week of November when we went. Lot of lake effect snow down that way. Today I am on I-96 east of US 23 in the right lane. I could not get the car over 35 mph on what looked like a wet road. People in the thru lanes sailing along at 70-80 mph. Every time I hit mid 30's car started to slide sideways. I took the first exit and got off. You got people going that fast on a road and they cannot stop. Scary.

Went into Grand Rapids early this morning from Middleville. M-6 had a jack knifed semi blocking both lanes West bound. Several slide offs on M-6 and North bound 131. Took two hours to get home from Saint Mary's Hospital after my appointment. Lots of wind and drifting on the North - South roads.

I did a long drive to pick up my daughter from South Bend Airport today. Would be driving along at high speed( 30 to 40 MPH)and "just feel the quiver of lost traction". Drove over 100 miles today and only passed one car. ( He was doing about 20 ), did see at least 6 off the road. Road went from dry to SLICK wiith no warning.
Also was a shock for her coming from Fla. back to Ind.

My family lives between the 421 exit at Michigan City, and the Ind.49 Chesterton exit. I am sure that is the stretch. Jim

According to the article...
Its in Galesburg area, Eastbound between the 90 and 92. I was just through there on Monday, and it wasn't worth a hoot then either. Just makes me glad my big trucks are parked for now.

Prayers for the injured and the family left behind...

Ckain(MI), where are you located? I bet I'm even closer than you unless you're from BC, Climax, or Galesburg! What a mess. Should be open for business by midnight.
