alliance tractor tires

looking at some new tractor tires for my sons 966. found some alliance for $590.00 or Titans $540.00. I think they are bias ply, never asked. at any rate, anyone have a preference or experience with either of these brands? I have seen titans before, looked ok but was told they blow out the sidewall at the "pry here" section.

Gary We sold both, Titans had a very thin casing, don't know if they are still that way. Alliance had a very heavy casing. I never put them on any tractors that did a lot of field work, just loader and chore tractors. I put them on a 1800C Oliver I had, but I used it less than 100 hours per year mostly haying. I have a 4X16 Ihc plow and had to fill them with fluid to pull it. I would put the Alliance on again if I ever need to.

Titans have a BAD rep. around here! NO ONE will touch them! Never have heard why, but there used to be a guy in town that sold Titans, and he is long gone. I have them on a few things, but I don't use my tractors ALL day, just a few hours here and there...

Take it for what it is worth to ya, but like I said, for what ever reason they are WELL know as bad tires around here?!?!

thanks for the thoughts guys. I think I will check into the alliance more. the 966 is just a loader tractor, not a big workout tractor, but still don't wanna put bad stuff on it.

Don't mean to hijack the thread, but does anyone have any comments about their 14.9 x 38. I can buy them for about 55% of 'stones'.

I do not know about alliance, but I would not put on titans. We put a set on that started throwing chunks of the bars off within 2 years. And they started cracking really bad within 3.

I'm surprised to here any bad about Titans, I have them on 6 tractors and also on our farms puller tractor and Firestone's on the other 2, their anywhere from 5 years to 25 years old, the older being Armstrong. for me the Firestone seem to weathercheck worse than the Titans. The Titans are scared up some but they have been over a lot of corn stalks and done a lot of spinning and grubbing on the two with loaders, I'm completely satisfied with them, they were always cheaper than others, maybe the newer ones aren't as good.

I just bought a tractor with a used set of 18.4 34 Alliance tires on it. I don't know how long they have been on it, but obviously a while. They are just showing some light cracking starting in between the lugs and have about 80% tread. They look like they have quite a bit of life left. One thing I did notice is that they are only a 6 ply, not an 8ply. If I was buying, I think I would opt for the 8 ply.
