Broke a front spring-decided to replace struts myself. First, found ball joints bad too. Then went to drive out pinch bolt and hit ABS sensor and broke it, ARGH. What an idiot I am! Add $50 to the bill. Ever had one of those days?

If you think you are the only one that makes mistakes, just think of all the updates that the computer software people send you!

We received a notice on Dealer Portal that 2 updates are available for EST version 8.2.0.0 which hasn't been sent out to the dealers yet. And another notice to not install the updates until 8.2.0.0 discs arrived and were installed.

you mean like the time i decided to save lots of money, haul gravel myself from the quarry for the potholes, blew out both rear tires??? Like that??

Nice thing on my Ford Explorer is if you change the front bearing assembly on 4wd, you get the bearing and the ABS all in one unit. Costs like $130.oo and is not that hard to change. Big honking nut on the end of the short axle and three bolts holding the bearing assembly. With correct tools and a lift or jack it takes maybe 15 minutes.

Small world. I replaced my right front strut last night on my '05 Taurus because of a broken spring. The spring broke, dropped below the spring mount with a jagged end about 1" from my tire. Lucky it never punctured the tire.
On my '03 Taurus I could change out the struts without disconnecting the ball joint - but I sure couldn't on my '05.
Took me about 4 hours total to do one side.
