Went to the www.dbtc.co.uk./
Went to FAQS
Didn't have anything for the 990. All they had was for the 885 1200 1490 1690
What they showed for the 885 was 2 lines going to the starter One of them from the batt
Didn't show the 2 tiny wires that go to the solenoid, and didn't even show the solenoid to begin with. Didn't show the small S shaped wire with Os on each end, in this case one going to the top bolt on the solenoid, The other loose, but the O too small to fit on the bottom bolt of the solenoid. Didn't show the ground cable.

This should be what you want- http://www.dbtc.co.uk/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=printview&t=7990&start=0

This is the operators manual you want that has the wiring diagrams and all the service data you need. Buy it! You will refer to it a thousand times.

google BD990 SELECTAMATIC wiring diagram, there are several diagrams shown, hope they will be of some help

There is something about the solenoid & starter that has to be sync'd together, and put back the same way it was taken off, otherwise it won't work. I cannot remember exactly, but the shop that rebuilt mine several years ago tried to explain it to me.

gbs Can YOU post these diagrams onto here. I cant find them, OR anything for the 990. I went where you said. The google page is full; of your headings. BUT once inside I find nothing for the 990

Well I dropped the tiny wire onto the lower post on the solenoid, and it works. BUT it trys to start as soon as I touch the batt cable to the batt. That tells me the switch may be bad. BUT I still don't know where the S cable goes, one end connected to one post at the Solenoid. Im sure the other end connects to the other post on the solenoid, but the hole in the cable end is to small to fit over the post, so I don't know for sure.

GOT IT. Neighbor came down to borrow bolts to keep. Hes a 1/2A mechanic. He couldn't get it. He went and got another old codger our age who IS a real mechanic, and he had it in a minute. THANKS ALL

Went and looked at mine but looks like you got it.Try and find a parts manual as they have good wiring diagrams in them.
