Will tractor transmission fluid (THF)work as hydraulic jack oil? Trying to save a trip to town. Thanks for any info. Stan

I added universal hydraulic fluid to the reservoir on my cherry picker, and it worked better than it ever has, but that old cherry picker is kind of a homemade deal with a really unusual jack arrangement. ATF is probably close to what is recommended.

Don't know why it wouldn't. Uniqueness may include something like staying oil and not turning to gum and varnish. Course my 1960's tractors all have had the hyd fluid unchanged for at least 15 years and it still works fine and is clear.

Liquid and slippery always works, ATF, motor oil ,hytran...etc

I topped off a jack with UTF, it worked.
